Over the years the collaboration of Artep Italia with a creative interior studio, researches and partnerships with leading designers and artist has contributed to giving the productions an international feel. Artep Italia, as always, intends to bring to its customers and clients an excellent carpet.

Alessandro Mendini

Alessandro Mendini is an architect, designer, artist, theoretician and journalist born in Milan in 1931. Along with Branzi and Sottsass he is the leading theorist and promoter of the renewal of Italian design of the eighties. He directed the magazines Casabella, Modo and Domus. Monographs in various languages have been produced on his work and the work accomplished with the studio Alchimia. He creates objects, furniture, interiors, paintings, installations and architecture. Mendini collaborates with international companies such as Alessi, Philips, Cartier, Swatch, Hermés. He is an honorary member of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. In 1979 and 1981 he was awarded the Golden Compass for design, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in France, and received the award from the Architectural League of New York. He was professor of design at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna. His works can be found in various museums and private collections. In 1989 he and his brother Francesco opened Atelier Mendini in Milan, designing the Alessi factory in Omegna, the new Olympic pool in Trieste, some subway stations and the restoration of Villa Comunale in Naples, Italy, a tower in Hiroshima, Japan, the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands, a neighborhood in Lugano in Switzerland, the palace for the Madsack offices in Hanover, a commercial building in Lörrach, Germany and other buildings in Europe and in the USA. 

 

 
Toshiyuki Kita

Toshiyuki Kita was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1942. In 1964 he graduated in industrial design at Naniwa College and became famous internationally in 1969 when his creations began to arouse interest in Italy. Kita creates numerous products for both Japanese and European companies, including furniture, LCD televisions, kitchen robots and other electrical appliances. Kita, for whom nature is the main source of inspiration, is a passionate environmentalist and promotes recycling. The designer, in fact, only uses raw materials that can be processed in the traditional way or with solar energy; for these reasons, all of his creations are made of metal in non-anodized aluminum. His creations often assume organic shapes or are reminiscent of animals. Kita, who is passionately dedicated to teaching, also holds conferences and workshops, both in Asia and in Europe. In addition, he supports Japanese craft traditions, such as traditional varnished handmade crafts. The study of Toshiyuki Kita is present both in Japan and in Italy and his works are exhibited in the permanent collections of the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Modern Art Gallery of Munich as well as at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg.

 

Jaques Toussaint

Born in Paris in 1947, he began his career in Italy in 1971 after studying in Paris at the Institut des Etudes Economiques et Commerciales and later at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts. He was a consultant for the furniture companies Bernini Carate Brianza and Matteo Grassi Mariano Comense, for which he also created a line of products, also coordinating the actions of several designers and set and followed the corporate image. Toussaint was a consultant for the furniture company Interflex Meda from 1983 to 1990. At the end of 1985, he created the brand Atelier as a synthesis of his previous experiences, for the edition of projects entrusted to the care of the young designers Hans-Peter Weidmann, Wolfgang Laubersheimer, Hannes Wettstein, well established designers like Toshiyuki Kita, Ross Littell and Verner Panton and the re-edition of designs by masters of architecture at an international level such as Alvar Aalto, Alfred Roth, Werner Max Moser, Hans Georg Bellmann and Giuseppe Terragni. Since 1993, he has been collaborating with Arbos of Solan to define a new collection of objects made ​​from recycled paper. In 1997 he created "Glass Works", a collection of mirrors that came from a research of an ancient material, glass. In 1998 he created the brand Connections, a collection of art objects that aims to highlight the connections that exist between the people and the things that have helped influence his research. In 2000 he founded the Association of Little Museum for the protection and preservation of the rich archive of projects, prototypes and drawings collected during the years of his collaboration with famous designers. He also started the production of a new collection with the brand Little Museum.

Active as a graphic designer, he participates in exhibitions in galleries and institutions in Italy and abroad. Some of his works are in the permanent collections of the Denver Art Museum, Die Neue Sammlung - Monaco of Bavaria, Kunstgewerbemuseum - Berlin of the National Museum in Poznan (PL) and the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Palazzo Forti - Verona.

RGB is a work about the exploration of the “surface’s deepness”. 

RGB designs create surfaces that mutate and interact with different chromatic stimulus.

Carnovsky's RGB is an ongoing project that experiments with the interaction between printed and light colours. The resulting images are unexpected and disorienting. The colors mix up, the lines and shapes entwine becoming oneiric and not completely clear. Through a colored filter (a light or a transparent material) it is possible to see clearly the layers in which the image is composed. The filter's colors are red, green and blue, each one of them serves to reveal one of the three layers.
